TOP 5 BEST-SELLING CARS IN AMERICA (DECEMBER 2009)

There's a certain type of person, a member of a rather large group of people, who doesn't want to spend any more time selecting his or her new car purchase than would be required to select a new toaster at Wal-Mart. "Black & Decker is a good name," they say. It toasts four slices of whole wheat with a few different optional settings. Personally, I'm more of a Hamilton Beach toaster oven kind of guy. Moreover, in the toaster oven goes a cheese bagel; topped with cinnamon and sugar. Hold the butter. Different? Yes. Perfect? You bet'cha. The Toyota Camry is the appropriate choice. It isn't unique, fun, or one bit ostentatious. But like slightly overdone toast with strawberry jam in the morning, it's what the people do.

December of 2009 goes down as yet another month in which the good people of America purchased more Toyota Camrys than any other car. A more important story may be the fifth-place finisher, the Chevrolet Malibu. Knocking off the Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion isn't a task for the faint of heart.
